Forces
Sail ships such as those that made up the First Fleet harnessed wind energy to move. Use this example to introduce students to the concept of forces including: how speed is affected by the size of a force, i.e. the stronger the wind, the faster the ship goes; and the effect of forces on the behaviour of an object; e.g. why don't ships move as fast without sails?.
